Abi Snyder is a Loan Officer for Assurance Financial at the Columbia, South Carolina branch. She is licensed through the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry in South Carolina.
Whether a purchase, refinance, renovation, or construction loan, Abi is able to help homebuyers in any stage of life achieve their dreams of primary and secondary homeownership. She also helps investors acquire financing for 1-4 family rental properties in addition to offering several unique loan programs through Assurance.
Hailing from her grandparents’ farm in Dillon, South Carolina, Abi has called Columbia home for fifteen years. She studied Retailing and Fashion Merchandising at the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) and has worked nearly thirteen years in banking, lending, and financial advising, most notably in the Five Points village. As a mortgage lender, Abi realizes a lifelong dream of working in the real estate industry. She is passionate about guiding borrowers through the financial side of the largest purchase they will ever make. Her “why” stems from the aftermath of her parents’ predatory home loan which resulted in foreclosure, quickly followed by a total-loss house fire. With no renters’ insurance, her family relied on the generosity of their community to become rehoused and equipped with all the basic necessities for daily life. Abi educates her clients so they can enjoy their homes while knowing they’ve made the right financing decision and that they are prepared to overcome tragedy should it strike.
Abi has also been active in her community through volunteer service. She has served on the boards of directors of the Five Points Association, the Columbia Food + Wine Festival, and Historic Columbia’s Palladium. She has completed programs at the SC Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities, SC Commissioner’s School for Agriculture (Outstanding Participant Award), and United Way’s Blueprint for Leadership. She co-chaired two employee giving campaigns to United Way of the Midlands while at BB&T, successfully raising over $142,000 and an award for an exemplary campaign. She has also been awarded Five Points Association’s Board Member of the Year, DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen Award, and delegate to American Legion Auxiliary’s Palmetto Girls’ State. On the ground level, Abi has volunteered at The Cooperative Ministry, Transitions Homeless Center, SC Works, and most recently, as a reading tutor to elementary students through United Way’s Midlands Reading Consortium.
Abi and her husband of five years, Austen, share a country home on 2 acres with their toddler son, James Mac, and their 12-year-old black Labrador, Brier. Abi enjoys all things fashion, architecture, home design, researching to quell her endless curiosity, and making her son laugh. Abi’s favorite thing about Columbia is that while it is considered a small city, each neighborhood feels like its own small town. Devine Street is her favorite of these neighborhoods, where she can see the State Capitol and city center high-rises while working from the converted home that is now the Assurance Financial office.
